How Thankful According to Islamic teachings

Imam Al-Ghazali explained that the way grateful to the Almighty GOD consists of four components.

1. Gratitude with Heart
Gratitude to do with the heart is fully aware that the blessings we get, whether large, small, many or slightly solely for GOD's grace and mercy.
GOD Almighty says,
Everything is in your favor (come) from GOD. (QS. An-Nahl: 53)
Gratitude to the heart can lead a person to receive the grace with full compliance without grumbling and objections, no matter how small the favor. Gratitude will give birth to the enormity of mercy da love GOD so that the spoken sentence tsana '(praise) to HIS.

2. Gratitude with Oral
When a person's heart is very confident that all the blessings he gained comes from GOD, spontaneous he would say "Alhamdulillah" (Praise be to GOD). Therefore, when they receive a favor from someone, his tongue still praising GOD. Because he is convinced and aware that the person is simply an intermediary that GOD wants to "deliver" a favor to him.
Al sentence functions as istighraq Alhamdulillah, which implies a whole. So thank God the word implies that the rightful recipients of praise is the Almighty GOD, even the whole praise must be focused and geared towards HIM.
Therefore, we must restore all the praise to GOD. By the time we praise someone for his kindness, the nature of the praise should be directed to the Almighty GOD. Therefore, GOD is the owner of Goodness.

3. Gratitude with Deeds
Thanks to the action means that all the blessings and goodness we receive must be used in road blessed HIS. For example to worship GOD, help others out of trouble, and other good deeds. GOD favors should we use proportional and not excessive to do good.
Messenger of Allah explains that GOD was very pleased to see the blessings given to His servants were used as well as possible. Messenger of Allah said,
Indeed GOD pleased to see atsar (former / form) His favors on His servants. (HR. Tirmidhi from Abdullah bin Amr)
The purpose of the above hadith is that GOD like servants who reveal and recognize all the blessings were bestowed on him. For example, rich people should reveal their wealth to charity, alms and the like. The knowledgeable people reveal their knowledge to teach it to fellow human beings, to give advice and so on. Appeared intent here is not to show off, but as an expression of gratitude for His didasaari. GOD Almighty says,
And the favors of your Lord, you shall declare (with gratitude). (QS. Adh-Dhuha: 11)
4. Maintain Favor of Damage
When the bounties and blessings be obtained, try to be utilized as well as possible. After that, try to keep the favor of the damage. For example, when we were awarded favors health, our duty is to maintain the body to stay healthy and fit in order to avoid the pain.
Similarly, the case with favors faith and Islam. We shall take care of "extinction" caused the denial, apostasy and weakness of faith. For that, we must continue to cultivate our Islamic faith and with prayer, reading the Qur'an, attending assemblies taklim, dhikr, and pray. We must fortify themselves from acts that undermine the faith like a hypocrite, apostate and kemungkaran. The point is that GOD gave any favors to be maintained as well as possible.
GOD Almighty promised to increase the pleasure if we are clever grateful, as in his words the following,
La'insyakartum la'aziidannakum wa la'inkafartum 'inna' adzaabii lasyadiid
(Unless you are thankful, I would add (favors) unto you, and if you deny (favor-KU), it is MY very painful torment. (QS. Ibrahim: 7)
